This 16th century Hacienda was transformed into a hotel in the 1980's. In the following years, other additions were built, but they were unsuccessful both functionally and aesthetically. Our project involves an extension of 22 new rooms and a master plan to reactivate and integrate the whole project. We broke down the project, scattering units across the garden, liberating them from the original 16th century structure and allowing them to open up in different directions to assure privacy. Volumetrically, the spaces have different heights in order to claim the view of domes, chimneys, the invading Amate trees and gardens. Rooms become sightseeing spots as they grow taller. Each floor is a single room where the elevator opens directly into the space. Water became a central design element both for bioclimatic reasons and for enjoyment.
